Accessibility at the Library
The Mary and Jeff Bell Library is committed to providing all TAMU-CC students, faculty, and staff equitable access to library services, resources, and programs.
In collaboration with TAMU-CC Disability Services, the library provides a range of services and technology for individuals who may require assistance.
Library staff will strive to accommodate reasonable requests for assistance in obtaining, accessing, and making use of library resources, materials, and services. Please contact bell.library@tamucc.edu with any questions or requests.

Upon request, library staff at the Circulation Desk will assist with the use of computers, making copies, or scanning documents on public copiers/scanners. For questions, contact us via chat, email or phone.
Physical Spaces
Automatic doors
- Automatic doors are installed at the library entrance, I-Create Lab, Special Collections, Daily Read Café, Super Quiet Study Room, and most department offices.
Wheelchair accessible restrooms
- 1st Floor near reference collections and government documents
- 2nd Floor near stairwell and Special Collections and Archives
Study rooms
- All group study rooms, and one single-person study room (#227) are wheelchair accessible.
- With advanced notice, available wheelchair accessible study rooms can be reserved for individuals who require accommodations. Please contact the Circulation Desk circulation@tamucc.edu (361-825-2340).

Borrowing Accommodations
Retrieving materials from bookshelves
- We are happy to assist with the retrieval of materials from the shelves. Please ask at the Circulation Desk for help with this. Time taken to retrieve materials is dependent on staff availability.
- You can also place retrieval (or hold) requests online. You will then be notified via email when the item is ready to be picked up at the Circulation Desk.
Borrowing course reserves
- Upon receiving a request from Disability Services, course reserve books can be loaned to a representative from Disability Services.

Designating a proxy to borrow materials on your behalf
- If you are registered with TAMU-CC Disability Services, you may designate another person to borrow materials on your behalf.
- Requests for this service must come from Disability Services (361-825-5816).
Requesting an alternate format through Interlibrary Loan
- In some cases, audio, large-print, ebooks, or Braille versions may be available through Interlibrary Loan.
- For assistance in requesting alternate formats, please contact the Interlibrary Loan department ill@tamucc.edu (361-825-5772).
Requesting OCR scans of print materials
- Bell Library can accommodate ADA scanning requests for print materials for TAMU-CC students who have registered with Disability Services.

- Library users may request help at the Ask Us Desk in person or via chat, email or phone.
Library instruction
- Bell Library strives to create an inclusive, accessible learning space. Faculty and staff are encouraged to work with your subject librarian directly and in conjunction with Disability Services to find accessible solutions.
