An article talking about community support to the University in Fall 2008 with various contributions made, including $5 million from the estate of Lawrence Atkins, a visiting artists endowment provided by the Cotillion Club in more than $60,000, Greater Texas Foundation's endowment established with various grants and amounts: $20,000, $80,000 and totaling the endowment to $200,000. AEP gifted the University $25,000 to support the institution's greatest need and awarding of arts scholarships and community outreach donation funds scholarships.
