A Historical Overview of Financial Aid and Tuition Costs Between 1967-1998: Nicole Edgar
Over $240.7 billion dollars in financial aid was given in 2022-2023 to post-secondary students in the United States to assist with souring tuition costs. Over 85% of students receive some form of financial aid including grants, federal loans, and federal work study. In analyzing student handbooks at TAMUCC (formerly UCC & CCSU) between 1967-1998, we can see how financial aid was administered, who was deemed eligible for it, what those resources looked like, and the overall cost of attendance in comparison to todays standards.
