HTC Vive Pro Eye PC-VR

• Open Brush - Create 3D-paintings in virtual-reality.  You don't have to be an art major to be creative. Dive in and see where your creativity takes you - you might be surprised at how creative you are!

Cave Automatic Virtual Environment (CAVE)

• Helicopter Rotor - Ever seen a helicopter rotor assembly up close and personal. Ever wonder what's on the inside? Now you can with the CAVE technology.
• Spanish Pórtico - Ever wonder what it's like to visit a pórtico in Spain? Experience it for yourself.
• Contemporary Apartment - Experience today what apartment or home hunting will be like in the future!
• Box Stacker - You and some blocks. Now what?  How high can you stack them?

1. General
   1. Available to all TAMU-CC student, faculty, and staff.
   2. Available for external client use at the discretion of IRL administration.
   3. All first-time users must complete the IRL Orientation and Safety module prior to using IRL’s services.
   4. Open use is limited to 20-minute intervals.
   5. IRL may only be used for lawful and educational purposes.
   6. IRL may not be used to produce, reproduce, or create content that is:
      • subject to copyright, patent, trademark protection, or in violation of intellectual property rights,
      • prohibited by TAMU-CC, TAMUS, local, state, or federal government, and
      • obscene or inappropriate for educational institutions.
   7. Use of cellular phones or other infra-red enabled devices within the IRL is strictly prohibited and must be stowed away in opaque container or storage compartment.
2. Operating Hour and Reservations: Regularly scheduled business hours are Monday through Friday, from 9AM – 11M and 1PM – 3PM. The IRL is available for open lab use to faculty, student, and staff during non-reserved times.
3. Activity Facilitation
   1. An IRL staff member is required to be present when using the IRL.
   2. Users are restricted to using authorized VR applications provided by the IRL.

1. All TAMU-CC members interested in using the IRL for academic course, research or development purposes are required to consult with the IRL Coordinator to determine if the lab is able to meet their needs.
2. Using the lab for academic course, research or development requires reservation at least two weeks prior to the activity date. Please email your reservation request to ImmersiveRealityLab@tamucc.edu. Note: Regular business hours may be modified to include weekends to accommodate special programs. Requests to use the IRL outside of regular business hours will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
3. Academic Course
   1. Instructors are responsible for students’ conduct and compliance with IRL guidelines while engaged in the scheduled IRL activities.
   2. Availability of XR equipment is currently limited so instructors should plan the activity and student participation accordingly.
4. Development / Research by faculty or graduate research students using HTC Vive Workstations
   1. Development or research activities are limited to HTC Vive workstations.
   2. Development or research activities are limited to applications provided by IRL.
   3. Modification of installed applications or system settings is strictly prohibited.
   4. Installation of new application is strictly prohibited.
   5. All work must be stored on user provided storage device.
5. Development / Research by faculty or graduate research students using CAVE
   1. Requires IRL reservation.
   2. Requires availability of technical support personnel.
   3. Development or research activities are limited to applications provided by IRL.
   4. Modification of installed applications or system settings may only be performed by IRL technical team, subsequent to testing to ensure no adverse impact to system performance or reliability.
   5. Installation of new application may only be performed by IRL technical team, subsequent to testing to ensure no adverse impact to system performance or reliability.
   6. All work must be stored on user provided storage device.

Violation of procedures and guidelines will be addressed according to the following:

1. First offense, user will be notified of breach in policy and the policy will be reiterated.
2. Second offense, user will be notified of breach in policy, the policy will be reiterated and IRL privileges will be suspended for one month.
3. Third offense, user will be notified of breach in policy, IRL privileges will be revoked.

• Users may experience dizziness, seizures, or other issues brought on by flashing lights or patterns while experiencing VR or watching video screens. If you are experiencing these symptoms, discontinue use of IRL equipment immediately and seek medical attention. Individuals who have experienced these symptoms in the past while using VR equipment, playing video games, or watching TV should consult a doctor before using the IRL.
• Be respectful of other user’s safety in the IRL. No horseplay in the lab.
• It is recommended to take a 10-to-15-minute break after every 20 minutes of use.
• Headsets, 3D glasses and controllers should be cleaned between each use with skin-friendly non-alcoholic antibacterial wipes and with a dry microfiber cloth for the lenses.
