Dr. Chambers Receives Accounting Educator Award

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Dr. Valrie Chambers, Professor of Accounting at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, received the Outstanding Accounting Educator Award at the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA) conference held October 26, in Austin, Texas.

Chambers received a $500 reward from the Accounting Education Foundation of TSCPA. She was nominated for the award based on excellence in classroom teaching and her contributions to the accounting profession.

Chambers developed the first eight-week version of accounting topics for the online MBA class and developed extra-curricular activities to benefit students in career development and building accounting skills. She received the spring 2011 Teaching Excellence Award and is a past recipient of the Outstanding Faculty Award from the College of Business. Chambers has been a member of the American Accounting Association and the American Institute of CPAs.
