University Graduate Professionals Honored at Awards Luncheon

The College of Graduate Studies at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi honored outstanding graduate professionals at the Graduate Awards Luncheon on Monday, April 7, as part of the First Graduate and Professional Student Appreciation Week (GPSAW), April 7-11.

The event kicked off the week of campus-wide events to honor and recognize the contributions of graduate Islanders, and included the reading of proclamations on behalf of the Office of the Governor Rick Perry, State Sen. Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa, and Corpus Christi Mayor Nelda Martinez. Finalists and winners were presented with a plaque during the luncheon.

2014 Graduate Award Winners:

  • Outstanding Master’s Mentor Award: Dr. Miguel Moreno, Assistant Professor in the College of Liberal Arts
  • Outstanding Research Assistant Award: Wannigar Ratanavivan, a doctoral student in the Counselor Education program in the College of Education
  • Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award: Kaitlyn Schroeder, a doctoral student in the Marine Biology Program in the College of Science and Engineering
  • Outstanding MBA Graduate Student Award: Steven Iezzi, graduate student in Masters of Business Program in the College of Business
  • Outstanding MFA Student Award: Julia Curran, graduate student in the Masters of Fine Arts Program in the College of Liberal Arts
  • Outstanding Doctoral Student Award: Jessica Lunt, doctoral student in the Marine Biology Program in the College of Science and Engineering

2014 Graduate Award Finalists:

  • Outstanding Master’s Mentor: Dr. Faye Brunn, Assistant Professor, College of Education
  • Outstanding Master’s Mentor: Dr. Richard Smith, Assistant Professor, College of Science and Engineering
  • Outstanding Research Assistant: Guannan Wang, College of Business 
  • Outstanding Master’s Student: Dara Dalton, College of Education
  • Outstanding Master’s Student: Edrick Ellis, College of Liberal Arts
