Islander Alumni in San Antonio Celebrate Fiesta

Islander Alumni gathered in San Antonio for Fiesta festivities with the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Islander Alumni Association and the newly established San Antonio Chapter.

Cora Beth Schmidt, a 2008 graduate, attended the event, which was Thursday, April 21, at La Paloma on the San Antonio Riverwalk.

“It’s nice to see people from Corpus Christi coming up and trying to build the program here in San Antonio,” she said. “Seeing TAMU-CC committing to this and trying to get their San Antonio Islander Alumni engaged by tying this event to Fiesta is really exciting.”

The first 75 attendees received the first official Alumni Fiesta Medals, collected by Fiesta attendees from different organizations and businesses that participate in Fiesta San Antonio, an annual parade and festival celebrating the city’s rich and diverse cultures.

Russell Wagner, A&M-CC’s Director of Engagement, said about 70 people attended the event. The chapter is looking forward to planning their next event.
