Dr. Karen McCaleb Announced as Dean of College of Graduate Studies

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi announces Dr. Karen McCaleb as Dean of the College of Graduate Studies.

While at the Island University, McCaleb has held several leadership positions within her program, department, and college having served as Assistant Dean, Associate Dean, and Interim Dean for the College of Education and Human Development. In June 2018, McCaleb was appointed as Interim Dean for the College of Graduate Studies. Since then, she has become an active member of the Graduate Education Advisory Committee (GEAC) and has accompanied 14 Islander undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students to the 15th Annual Pathways Research Symposium. Her most recent scholarly projects, FLIP Your LIDS and Making Waves – Low-Incidence Disabilities Institute, have addressed the need to develop and provide  interdisciplinary training for educators, related service professionals, and administrators who serve  students with extensive and pervasive support needs.

"I am honored to be Dean of the College of Graduate Studies at TAMU-CC. I’m looking forward to enhancing the services the college currently provides in order to better benefit our faculty, staff, and students,” said McCaleb.

The College of Graduate Studies’ mission is to guide, cultivate, and collaborate with a diverse community of scholars and stakeholders providing expertise, oversight and resources that generate and disseminate higher education excellence in South Texas and beyond. As the Dean for the College of Graduate Studies, McCaleb will lead the college to bring the mission to fruition by promoting inquiry, innovation, and impact.
