For the First Time, Family Shows Added to Furgason Bravo! Series

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2020, the Gloria and Robert A. Furgason Bravo! Series at the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Performing Arts Center (PAC) continues to bring diverse and entertaining performances to the Coastal Bend and surrounding communities. New this year, two family shows have been added to the 2019-2020 Furgason Bravo! Series lineup. Tickets for all performances are on sale now and available for purchase at tamucc.tix.com or at the PAC box office. Individuals receive a 15% discount when purchasing tickets for three or more Bravo! performances.

“We hope families in the Corpus Christi community will take advantage of these low-cost concerts. SMIRK was selected as the first concert as it’s appropriate and accessible for all ages and – is simply a lot of fun,” said Moore. “Our community deserves more entertainment options for families, and we look forward to making more concerts available in the coming BRAVO! seasons.”

The first family show, SMIRK, will take place Saturday, Sept. 28, at 2 p.m. in the PAC. The 90-minute roller coaster rides into the lives of two performers, a former scientist and a slapstick madman. Their friendship (and the show itself) is tested as they become increasingly at odds with each other. With juggling, whip cracking, unicycles, and a large rocket launcher, the dynamic duo will deliver their biggest, craziest, and most amazing show yet.

The second family performance, Call of the Wild, will take place on Saturday, March 7, 2020, at 2 p.m. in the PAC. This multimedia adventure and one-man show mixes classic storytelling with projected illustrations to tell the tale of Buck, a magnificent crossbred offspring of a St. Bernard and Scottish collie. Kidnapped from his lavish life on a California estate and sent to work as a sled dog during the great 1890s Klondike Gold Rush, Buck fights to survive and becomes the most famous dog in the whole history of the northland.

Reserved seat ticket prices for both shows range from $5 to $10 (plus applicable service fees). The Bravo! Series is funded by the Hotel Occupancy Tax fund by the City of Corpus Christi through the Arts & Cultural Commission.
