✖ Check out for more information about the endocannabinoid system and CBD! ──────────────────────────────────── Huntington's disease is a rare neurodegenerative disease that can be passed down from either parent. It is caused by excess repeats of the CAG codon in the HTT gene. Specifically, greater than 36 repeats of this specific codon - which codes for the amino acid glutamine - is the characteristic feature of Huntington's disease. This gene produces a protein known as huntingtin, which is vital for normal nerve function and brain development. When the gene is expanded, it leads to an excess of glutamate, the primary excitatory neurotransmitter, which in turn leads to excitatory toxicity and cell death. There are no treatments or cures for HD that can effectively slow the disease, but CBD has shown tremendous promise in relieving the symptoms and slowing several of the underlying mechanisms of pathology including excitatory overload, over-expression of the faulty gene, and subsequent inflammation. ──────────────────────────────────── Check out our other videos! ──────────────────────────────────── About What Is CBD: We are an unbiased informational blog focused on providing highly accurate information brought from doctors, lawyers, healthcare and pharmaceutical professionals, cannabis industry influencers, and more.
