Dr. Scott Commins is an expert in something called alpha-gal syndrome or AGS, which is often referred to as "red meat allergy" or "mammalian meat allergy." Strangely enough, AGS seems to be triggered by a tick bite. People who have eaten meat all their lives without any trouble suddenly become allergic after being bitten by a tick!.
