My son has a honda atc 125m that we recently acquired. The inside of the tank was pretty rusted. we saw some different techniques on you tube for removing the rust and we decided to go with the vinegar process. We went with the apple cider vinegar due to it having a higher acid content and it works really well. It removed all the rust as well as brightened the inside of the tank. Afterwards we filled the tank with some distilled water mixed with 3 tblsp of baking soda to neutralize the remaining vinegar in the tank so it won't flash rust. Hope this video was helpful for you in your project. don't know if you will get the same results we did, but hopefully this works for you as it did for us. please exercise great caution, make sure it's a competent adult doing this if you try this and make sure all gas and oil are removed from the tank prior to de-rusting your tank.
