In this video, weβre going to take a look at the top keto myths and discuss the truth about the ketogenic diet. Here are 7 keto lies and myths. 1. No long-term studies There are several long-term studies on keto. Long-term studies have also shown that high-carb, low-fat diets are leading to diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and other chronic diseases. 2. Dangerous for your kidneys Many people believe that the keto diet is dangerous for your kidneys because itβs high in protein. The ketogenic diet actually isnβt high in protein at all. A keto diet requires only a moderate amount of protein. 3. Adverse reactions Keto is often associated with adverse reactions like bad breath, keto flu, keto rash, and poor athletic performance. Pre-existing potassium and B vitamin deficiencies are often the culprits behind these negative side effects. 4. We need carbs There is no such thing as an essential carbohydrate. The body can easily run on ketones, which are a preferred fuel source. Certain parts of the body require small amounts of glucose to function. The liver can make the glucose that your body needs through gluconeogenesis. 5. Slows your metabolism This is one of the biggest keto lies! A high-carbohydrate diet or a low-calorie diet will slow your metabolism, but not a ketogenic diet. Keto will actually speed up your metabolism. 6. High-fat diets are dangerous The studies that connect high-fat diets to health problems did not consider the carbohydrates in the diet. Typically, the subjects of these studies were on a high-carb diet as well. 7. Not sustainable Keto helps get rid of cravings, curbs hunger, increases energy levels, elevates mood, and more. A keto diet will make you feel great, which is definitely sustainable long-term. Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, age 57, is a chiropractor who specializes in Healthy Ketosis & Intermittent Fasting.
