Nonresident Alien
Tax Compliance System
The GLACIER Tax Compliance System is a compliance system designed to allow institutions to efficiently and effectively collect information, make tax residency and treaty determinations, manage paperwork, maintain data, and file reporting statements with the IRS. Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi uses this web-based tool to make decisions regarding how much a foreign national receiving payments from the University, should be paying in taxes. Payments include wages/salary, scholarships, fellowships, etc. If you are a foreign national receiving payments from the University, the information you input into GLACIER will determine how much is withheld for tax payment purposes. This is to ensure that your payment is not undertaxed or overtaxed.
GLACIER Tax Compliance is not to be confused with Glacier Tax Prep (GTP), which is a separate software application that helps the foreign national prepare the tax forms that will need to be printed out, signed, and mailed to the U.S. government’s Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The University’s Office of International Education has purchased a license agreement for the GTP software to assist foreign nationals in preparing their U.S. tax returns. OIE representatives should be able to assist with general questions you may have about GTP.
