The Master of Science degree in Reading is a fully online program that has been designed for the student to earn a master’s degree with the option of applying coursework to one additional certification: Reading Specialist.To receive the additional certificate, the students must also successfully complete the TExEs Reading Specialist (151) test as required by the state, have three years of teaching experience and complete 160 hours of Practicum/Field Experience.
Graduates of the Master of Science in Reading should be able to:
- demonstrate an ability to work with students of differing abilities in literacy.
- describe the major components in a comprehensive reading program, and
- conduct and present a project relevant to their professional needs.

Program Details
Students are eligible to pursue graduate-level course work in Reading if they meet COEHD graduate admission requirements as specified in the COEHD’s Graduate Policies and Regulations section of this catalog.
