Laboratory for Environmental Health
Our research is focused on environment-related human and aquatic animal health issues using various in vitro and in vivo research models. Common environmental pollutants, such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), per- and polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS), micro- and nano- plastics (MNPs), agrochemicals, and pharmaceutical products, are all investigated at the LEH.

We are particularly interested in the impacts of marine environmental factors, including temperature, salinity, pCO2 level, photoexposure, and the oxygen level, on the toxicities of those marine pollutants. We are also involved in environmental remediation and general toxicology research. Other research interests include nano-bio interatctions and interfaces, nanoengineering and the interactions of nanomaterials with environmental and biosystems, environmental bacterial biofilms, and human cancer biology.
