Navigate Summer Bridge Academy 2025 (July 7 - August 9)

The Navigate Summer Bridge Academy is a 5-week residential experience that is intended to support the transition to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi by introducing students to college-level academic concepts and coursework while helping them get acquainted with our campus, its faculty, and one another. Specifically, the program is intended to help scholars who are identified as "not college ready" in Mathematics based on the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) assessment who would like begin their college journey early.

This FREE fully residential program will be offered during the Summer II 2025 semester (July 7 – August 9), with move-in and a family orientation on Monday, July 7, 2025.

The benefits of participating include:

earning 4-5 FREE credits toward your degree prior to the start of the Fall 2024 semester,
the cultivation of one-on-one mentorship with TAMU-CC faculty and peers,
early access to TAMU-CC support culture,
guided career and academic advisement,
practice with learning experiences and habits, and
the opportunity to achieve College Ready status in Mathematics.

Students are required to reside on campus during the entirety of program. They must commit to being on campus from move-in on July 7, 2025 to move-out on August 9, 2025. Because this program involves intensive instruction in Mathematics each class day, we do not encourage students to apply who would need to miss multiple classes for any reason. Additionally, we would discourage students from working off-campus during their time in the Navigate Summer Bridge Academy, since time away from campus interferes with a student’s ability to fully engage in all of the programming and events.

All tuition/fees, housing, meals, course materials, and program activities are absolutely free!

Qualification Criteria:

Admitted to TAMU-CC for the Fall 2025 semester
Not college ready in Mathematics based on TSI Assessment scores
Registered to attend Islander Launch before July 7, 2025

Space is limited to 48 students!

Eligible students will be sent invitations to apply to the Navigate Summer Bridge Academy beginning in March 2025.

Navigate Summer Bridge Academy students will be registered for either MATH 1314 (College Algebra), MATH 1324 (Business Math), MATH 1332 (Contemporary Math), or MATH 1442 (Statistics) based on the their selected major. Students who already have college credit for a MATH course are not eligible for participation.

All Navigate Summer Bridge Academy students will also be registered for UNIV 1100: Career and Academic Planning, a 1-credit course meant to help students prepare for a successful journey at TAMU-CC.

The Navigate Summer Bridge Academy is designed for incoming first-year students who are considered "not college ready" in Mathematics based on the TSI Assessment. The goal of the program is to help students get connected to faculty, staff, and resources on campus early while completing their first college-level course in Mathematics to fulfill TSI program requirements with intentional, embedded support.

Students in the Navigate Summer Bridge Academy will live together in the same building in Miramar Housing on campus. The rooms are private one-bedroom, one-bathroom units that share communal kitchen, laundry, and gathering spaces. Students will move in on July 7th and will need to move out on August 9.

Students in the Navigate Summer Bridge Academy will be provided all meals each day through our campus dining services. On Monday-Thursday, there will be standard meal times that work with the class and activity schedule. Meals on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will also be provided, in addition to care packages of food and snacks to help sustain students between meals.

Navigate Summer Bridge Academy classes are typically held from 9am-1pm on Monday-Thursday during the Summer II semester. Students in MATH 1442 (Statistics) will also have lab Monday-Thursday from 2-3:30pm.

Our Navigate Summer Bridge Academy team is designing a complete program of workshops, activities, and academic support in the afternoons and evenings, as well as on and off-campus events on the weekends. Students in the program are expected to attend afternoon/evening activities as part of the experience.

If it is possible, we do not encourage students to work off-campus during the Navigate Summer Bridge Academy experience, as it detracts from a student's ability to fully engage in the program and with their peers. Also, balancing the demanding workload of summer courses is challenging enough without having to keep up with a work schedule.

If this is a major concern, we can assist students with finding on-campus opportunities for employment.

We do not encourage students to apply for the Navigate Summer Bridge Academy if they are planning to take vacations or be absent between July 7 and August 9. Students who are accepted to the program must commit to attendance during the entire length of the program.

If students must miss class for an emergency or illness, we encourage them to communicate with their professors, just as we would advise for any college student during the regular semester.
