Adjacent to the Gulf of Mexico, Corpus Christi is a premier coastal destination for many around the world.

Corpus Christi provides exceptional recreational opportunities such as windsurfing, cycling, fishing and sailing, just to name a few. Corpus Christi is located just a couple hundred miles from other major Texas cities like Houston, San Antonio, Austin, Laredo and Brownsville. So exploring Texas is within reach right from our "Sparkling City by the Bay". And with a local population of just over 325,000, Corpus Christi provides both the convenience of a major city with the atmosphere of a quaint coastal town.

Corpus Christi is home to multiple outdoor activities including Beach to Bay relay marathon (the largest relay marathon in the United States), Conquer the Coast cycling event, the Texas Jazz Festival, the largest FREE jazz festival in Texas, Festival of the Arts, the Greek Festival and Dia de los Muertos Street Festival.

Looking for some indoor activities? You can't go wrong visiting the Art Museum of South Texas, the Museum of Science and History, the Texas State Aquarium or the world-famous USS Lexington Museum on the Bay. Other activities include taking in a baseball game at Whataburger Field, exploring the many nightclubs around the area, live concerts at Concrete Street Amphitheater, American Bank Center or catch the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra perform at the world-class Performing Arts Center located right on the Campus.

After a day of adventure, make plans to stop by one of the fine eateries around town. Being located on the Gulf of Mexico, you'll have no trouble finding fresh seafood being served daily at many locations around the area. You can also choose to visit one of the many restaurants or food trucks that serve a multitude of cuisines from Asian, Indian, Thai, Italian, and some of the best Tex-Mex food you've ever had. Don't forget to try some Texas barbecue!

While Corpus Christi has a magnificent bayfront, excellent dining and no shortage of things to do, Padre Island is the crown jewel of natural attractions and is only a 15 minute drive from the campus.

Padre Island, the longest stretch of undeveloped barrier island in the world, is home to the Padre Island National Seashore.

You can drive or walk for miles in either direction while enjoying the sights and sounds of crashing waves, shelling along the sandy shoreline or watching the many seabirds that call Padre Island home, all the while relaxing in the peaceful seclusion that is the Texas coastline. Don't forget to bring your cameras and binoculars. You're sure to spot pelicans flying in formation at sunset, coyotes exploring the dunes along with multitudes of seagulls, curlews and other seabirds native to the area. You might even spot porpoises frolicking in the waves.

But if you're looking for something a little more invigorating, Padre Island is the destination for water sports enthusiasts from around the world. Everything from surfing, kite boarding, windsurfing, wake boarding, kayaking and many other water related activities are at your fingertips.

All in all, if you enjoy big city convenience combined with the natural beauty of a coastal town, Corpus Christi and The Island University have it all.

Payments for new or for renewal of parking permits can be done through the TAMU-CC Parking Portal. Faculty and staff have the option to pay using a credit card, debit card, or through payroll deductions. Students have the option to pay using a credit card, debit card, or through S.A.I.L. There are a variety of parking permit options available.

Visitor parking is available on campus via the ParkMobile app.

FLEX is a bus service that runs partially on a LOCAL route and offers pick-ups at designated bus stops referred to as "FLEX" stops. Just look for the "FLEX" bus stop sign, then call 833-RTA-FLEX for a pick-up!

How does it work?

• Pick-up at FLEX Stop: Call 833.RTA.FLEX and provide the location number on the FLEX bus stop sign and we'll swing by and pick you up.
• Drop off at FLEX Stop: Upon boarding simply tell the bus operator the FLEX location number you want to stop at and we'll swing by and drop you off!

Purchase a Momentum Campus parking permit and catch a ride aboard the Momentum Shuttle to the Island! The shuttle is free to ride for all Texas A&M-Corpus Christi students, faculty, staff, and contractors with a valid SandDollar$ ID, and travels between the Momentum and Island Campuses.  The Momentum Campus parking permit is just $12 for one semester or $23 for fall and spring.

Momentum Village residents can simply walk to the parking shelter on Islander Way.

Those with garage and general parking permits may also park and use the "Park & Ride". Lots are monitored by personnel for safety and compliance.

Momentum Shuttle (Route 60) Schedule

This route operates only during the fall and spring semesters. During the summer, take route 93 between the Island and Momentum Campuses.

Momentum Shuttle will run in the fall from August 21, 2024, through December 12, 2024.

Monday - Thursday

• Every 10 minutes from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
• Every 20 minutes from 1:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Friday

• Every 20 minutes from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Islanders Beach Bash: September 6, 2024

• Momentum Shuttle Service will be extended through 10:30 p.m.

Our transportation system is provided in partnership with the Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority (CCRTA). Texas A&M-Corpus Christi students, faculty, and staff can ride on any CCRTA bus FOR FREE by presenting a valid SandDollar$ ID card.

Route 5 Schedule

Route 5 takes riders from points between the Six Points area via Alameda Street to the Island Campus. Riders can also go grocery shopping at the HEB and CVS on Alameda at Roberts, explore shopping and local restaurants in Lamar Park and Town & Country Center, go to Doctors Regional Hospital, and the Six Points area.

Monday - Friday

• Every 60 minutes from 6:15 a.m. - 7:45 p.m.

Saturday

• Every 60 minutes from 8:15 a.m. to 7:45 p.m.

Sunday

• Every 60 minutes from 8:15 a.m. to 7:45 p.m.

Route 37 Schedule

Route 37 connects riders from the Port & Ayers area to the Island Campus, stopping at shopping areas on Gollihar Rd. and La Palmera Mall/Southside Transfer Station.

Monday - Friday

• Every 60 minutes from 7:10 a.m. - 8:05 p.m.

Saturday

• Every 60 minutes from 9:10 a.m. to 8:05 p.m.

Sunday

• Every 60 minutes from 9:10 a.m. to 8:05 p.m.

Sunday Schedules

CCRTA operates a limited schedule on all bus routes.  Most routes begin around 8:00am and end about 8:15 p.m.  Please review the CCRTA schedules or consult the TransLoc app for full details.
