Awards & Photos
Junior/Senior Divisions
The Regional Fair will award first, second, and third place winners for each of 24 categories for qualified projects for each division. Descriptions of categories can be found here.
- 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be selected during judging from each category within each division.
- 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will receive a medal.
- 1st & 2nd place winners who presented in person will be invited to submit their projects to state.
- 1st place winners in the Junior Division who presented in person will be invited to submit to the national-level Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge.
- 1-2 projects from the Senior Division will be invited to the International Fair (ISEF).
- 15-20 projects will receive special awards pertaining to their category.
Elementary Division
The Regional Fair will award first, second, and third place winners for each of two categories (physical science and life science) for qualified projects for each grade level.
- 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be selected during judging from each category within each grade level.
- 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will receive a medal.
- Qualifying projects will receive special awards.
Best in Division
The CBRSF judging teams will also select a Best in Division for one project each within grades K-2 and 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12.
Individual Entries
- Every student will receive a certificate of participation & a t-shirt.
Team Entries
- Each individual team member will receive a certificate of participation & a t-shirt.
- All team members should be present during judging, with each member able to explain the project and results completely and accurately.
Promotion
- The top 2 projects* by category in grades 6-12 advance to the Texas State Science and Engineering Fair. (Students must present in person to be eligible to advance to state.)
Special Awards
- Special awards are sponsored by community and professional groups, non-profit organizations, and businesses. The special award sponsor determines the criteria for judging based on the specialized interests of the sponsoring organization.
Projects will be judged using the following criteria:
Grades K-12 | Judging Rubric
- Creative Ability
- Scientific Thought
- Skill
- Clarity
- Quality of Board
- Notebook/Investigation Journal (optional)
- Bibliography and Acknowledgements (if needed)
Before a Science Fair entry is judged, students must have submitted an approved science project to Scienteer which has been approved by the appropriate SRC and IRB committees at the local institution. All projects follow guidelines set forth by Intel ISEF.
