Congratulations to the 2022 - 2023 Employee Excellence Award Recipients
Islander Leadership - Kevin Houlihan, Academic & Administrative Compliance Manager
"Kevin has consistently demonstrated exceptional dedication and competence in ensuring that our institution is compliant with all relevant academic and administrative regulations. He is diligent and detail-oriented, and I regularly find myself wondering how he keeps track of all the very specific aspects of his role."
"Kevin is a cheerful and caring individual who goes above and beyond to assist his colleagues, and his positive attitude and sense of humor make him an absolute pleasure to work with. Kevin is an unsung hero who works behind the scenes and is an exceptional employee who has made a significant contribution to our institution's success."
Islander Inclusion - Alberto Hernandez, Assistant Director-Alumni Relations
"Alberto Hernandez is an outstanding and dedicated employee of the University, he is a valued colleague and an exemplary representative of the Island Community within the Coastal Bend. Alberto has developed a new program to serve our Spanish-speaking community that provides Inclusivity. His warm and compassionate heart makes everyone feel welcome. He leaves nothing to chance when he provides workshops for families that may have never used a computer program that handles financial matters. His individualized service which quite often means staying late or numerous follow-ups shows his dedication. Even though the iGRAD platform is in Spanish many of his participants also need to learn computer skills and he is very patient. The participant surveys show how excellent his skills are. He is a wonderful employee and a pleasure to supervise. The Island and Coastal Bend community are gaining knowledge that will last the rest of their lives."
Islander Impact - Christopher Palfreyman, Client Technologies Analyst III - User Support Services
"Chris has been very active in quite a few organizations here on campus (Staff Council, Web Council) and volunteered for many fund-raising committees, events and activities even with his busy schedule. His contributions, devotion to our university, and his mere presence on campus and among coworkers and colleagues is of great importance for the success of our university community and university mission. In addition, Chris is very professional, very kind, humane, inclusive in working with others, and have high standards of work ethics. It is with great pleasure and honor to nominate Chris Palfreyman to the Staff Employee Excellence Award."
