Thinking about retirement! This workshop includes information on the impact of retirement on group insurance plans, accrued vacation, and other benefit programs. It suggested attending a pre-retirement counseling workshop within 6 to 12 months from your expected retirement date.

Earning retiree status affords certain privileges and benefits, such as allowing continued participation in the Texas A&M University System group insurance plans. Additionally, in recognition of service to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, the following retiree privileges and benefits are also provided to faculty and staff who have earned service retirement from Texas A&M University System.

• Survivor Health Insurance Continuation: If a retiree predeceases his or her insured eligible dependents, the surviving spouse will be permitted to continue Texas A&M System sponsored medical, dental, and/or vision coverage indefinitely, and eligible dependents may continue coverage subject to the age maximum, provided that premiums are paid.
• Retiree Identification Card: You can replace your Islander ID Card as an active staff or faculty member with a retiree I.D.
• Campus Parking: A working retiree must pay for a regular parking pass when in a working retiree status. When visiting the Human Resources Office, you will find a free visitor parking spot for H.R. Visitors in the front parking lot of the Natural Resources Center. The Human Resources office is located on the second floor in suite 2425.
• Library Privileges: Retirees may present their retiree I.D. card at the circulation desk of Mary and Jeff Bell Library for continuation of library privileges. 
• Recreational Activities: Retirees may purchase and participate in recreational activities through Recreational Sports on the same basis as active faculty or staff members.
• Computing Resources: Retirees of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi do not retain access to computing systems, applications, and services after retirement. If you need your email or access to computing programs, your Dean or Department Head must ask I.T. to extend your privileges.
• PerksConnect Employee/Retiree Discount Program: This program enables employees and retirees to find great deals on items and services they need and use every day.
• Tickets At Work:  This program is available to all retirees. Receive discounts on hotels, rental cars, flights, packages, cruises, and theme park attractions around the United States.
• SilverSneakers Fitness Program: This program is available to retirees (including working retirees and survivors) aged 65 and older enrolled in the A&M Care or 65 PLUS plans and their spouses aged 65 and older who are enrolled as a dependent.

This workshop provides an overview of time off programs such as vacation, sick leave, other types of paid leave, and holiday schedules offered to TAMUCC Benefits-Eligible Faculty and Staff. Special session in May discussing Maximum Carry-Over Rules and additional time off rules.

Time Off Program Guide

A&M System employees generally receive from 12 to 15 holidays each year. The state legislature determines the number of holidays, and the A&M System Board of Regents approves the specific days based on the recommendations of each A&M System member chief executive officer.
