About
The TAMU-CC Islander Voices ensemble provides students with comprehensive training for the modern singer/actor, culminating in a performance each semester on the stage of the Performing Arts Center. Fall semester will typically be an evening of opera or musical theatre scenes or mixed repertoire with a full opera presented in the spring. Islander Voices is designed to cover multiple aspects of performance for the singing actor, many of which can be applied not only to opera but also to other theatrical styles. This includes instruction on role preparation, character development, acting, movement, and improvisation. Over the course of multiple semesters, students will be exposed to repertoire from opera, operetta, musical theatre, and experimental/improvisatory forms, and will have the opportunity to participate in innovative productions reimagining classic works in new ways.
