Graduate Awards Ceremony 2021

The Outstanding Graduate Awards recognize graduate students, faculty, and alumni for exceptional achievements and contributions both academically and professionally.

Established in 2013 the awards showcase and celebrate the hard work, dedication, and impact of our Islander students and faculty to the graduate community and beyond.

2023-2024 Outstanding Award Nominations - NOW OPEN
The deadline to submit nominations is: November 3, 2023

The College of Graduate Studies will award seven awards to recognize outstanding graduate assistants, students, faculty, and alumni.

Awards include:

  • Outstanding Master's Student
  • Outstanding Doctoral/MFA Student
  • Outstanding Teaching Assistant
  • Outstanding Research Assistant
  • Outstanding Master's Mentor Award
  • Outstanding Doctoral/MFA Mentor Award

Eligibility Criteria for students include: 3.75 GPA and >50% of all graduate program work taken at TAMUCC. 

  • Outstanding Islander Impact Award (Alumni Award)

Eligibility Criteria for alumni: nominees must have earned a master's or doctoral degree from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.

The 2024 award recipients will be announced in April at the Outstanding Graduate Awards ceremony scheduled during Graduate and Professional Student Appreciation Week. We look forward to sharing their inspirational stories with you soon.

Outstanding Master’s and Doctoral/MFA Mentor Awards
The College of Graduate Studies will select two Outstanding Mentors - One for Master’s student mentor and one for Doctoral/MFA student mentor. Each winner will receive a plaque and a $1000 travel award. Only students may nominate faculty for the Mentor Award.

Outstanding Teaching and Research Assistant Awards
The College of Graduate Studies will select an Outstanding Teaching Assistant and an Outstanding Research Assistant. Each winner will receive a plaque and a $1000 travel award. Only faculty may nominate assistants.

Outstanding Master’s and Doctoral/MFA Student Awards
The College of Graduate Studies will select two Outstanding Graduate Students – one Master’s student and one Doctoral/MFA student. Each winner will receive a plaque and a $1000 travel award. Only faculty may nominate students.

Outstanding Islander Impact Award
Newly created in 2022, the Islander Impact Award is given to a TAMUCC alumnus who has received either a master’s or doctoral degree and has made outstanding contributions within their community, created impactful activity, and has shown inspired leadership. We invite all TAMU-CC graduate students, faculty, and community members to nominate candidates to receive this unique honor.
