Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences
The Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences (PENS) at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is an interdisciplinary department that offers undergraduate degrees in Atmospheric Science, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Geology, and Physics (a multi-university joint degree as a member of the Texas Physics Consortium). We also offer master's degrees in Coastal and Marine System Science, Environmental Science, and Chemistry. Additionally, we offer a PhD degree in Coastal and Marine System Sciences.
Alongside our academic programs, PENS is home to exciting research activities that include laboratory investigations ranging from small molecules to the atmosphere, the terrestrial environment, and the deep ocean. We offer a unique transdisciplinary approach to environmental science that incorporates research in the human dimension as well as the biophysical. Research centers supported by PENS include the Center for Water Supply Studies, the Isotope Core Laboratory, and the Weather Observatory.
With the physical and environmental sciences as our core, we seek to bridge academics and research through interdisciplinary collaborations in classrooms, laboratories, and in the field. We seek for our students at every level to grasp the fundamentals of their coursework, the applied aspects of their research, and their potential to contribute to a more stable, creative, and sustainable world.
