First Year CouncilĀ

The First Year Council (FYC) consists of first year Islanders dedicated to enhancing the first-year TAMU-CC experience. Within the Student Government Association (SGA), FYC offers its members valuable leadership opportunities, helping them grow as leaders to represent the interests of first-year students. The First Year Council also serves as an introduction to the SGA’s senatorial processes and procedures by preparing members for future roles within the organization.

Throughout the year, FYC hosts numerous events targeted at enriching the first-year experience and overall student life. This includes food drives, treasure hunts, and a variety of other engaging activities. Additionally, FYC supports signature SGA events such as Bluesday Tuesday, Wind Jam, and Islander Resolutions. The First Year Council meets biweekly to plan and prepare for these initiatives, ensuring their success and impact.

The 2024-2025 FYC application can be found on SGA’s I-Engage. Please contact the FYC Director by emailing sga.fyc@tamucc.edu with any additional questions. The SGA Office is in the University Center Student Activities Center, Room 218M. For issues or concerns, you may contact the SGA office at 361.825.5745.
