About Us
The Islander Advising Center serves students entering Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi from orientation through 45 credit hours. Students are provided ongoing support and assistance during their transition to college. Students build a strong foundation of support and success to ensure a smooth transition to the appropriate college advising center after completing 45 credits.
Academic Advising is a process where students and their advisors work together as partners in developing and meeting academic, career, and personal goals.
Students receive support in the following ways:
- selecting courses and registering
- understanding university policies and curriculum
- developing academic, life, and career goals
- identifying values, interests, and abilities
- developing decision-making skills and accepting responsibility
- making use of campus resources
- understanding the value of a college education
- developing self-advocacy skills
