How to Apply: FAFSA or TASFA?

Filling Out The FAFSA
To apply for financial aid, you must complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, also known the FAFSA. You can complete the FAFSA online at StudentAid.gov.
Any student, regardless of income, who wants to be considered for federal, state, and school financial aid programs. This includes grants, scholarships, work-study funds, and loans.
Filling Out The TASFA
Legislation enacted in Senate Bill 1528 (SB1528) and House Bill 1403 (HB1403) grants resident status for tuition purposes to certain non-resident students. SB1528/HB1403 students are not eligible for federal funds and therefore cannot complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).To see if you qualify for the FAFSA, please visit www.studentaid.gov. Do not complete both the FAFSA and TASFA.

Por favor completar la Solicitud de Ayuda Financiera Estatal de Texas y envie con todos los documentos requeridos. Para ver si califica para el FAFSA, visite www.studentaid.gov. No complete tanto el FAFSA como el TASFA.
An alternate form, the Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA), is available for SB1528/HB1403 students to apply for need-based state funds. Please select the applicable academic year from the list below to get the online or paper (PDF) version of the TASFA in English or Spanish.
