Professional Judgement

The Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA) recognizes that households can experience changes in income and/or finances or other unusual circumstances that are not accurately reflected from two years prior. These circumstances can be challenging to deal with, but it does not mean you have to stop your educational pursuits.  Federal regulations allow limited exceptions or adjustments to information reported on your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®).  The OSFA can use professional judgement to review your family’s special or unusual circumstance to determine what additional assistance we may be able to offer you.  These situations are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and must be supported by documentation.
