TExES Approval Request (TAR)
Each time you wish to test, you must notify TAMUCC via our electronic request system called TAR, at tar.tamucc.edu. New users must set up an account. Follow the instructions on the home page. Be sure to return to the home page, log on to your new account, then submit your request to test.

The request process takes time, as we must ensure candidates have met all preparation and eligibility criteria.  TAR requests are processed in the order they are received (Monday – Friday, excluding holidays) and require a few days to process, but can take longer depending on approval coordinators’ schedules for each content area.

Enrolled students must use their Islander email address. Check your email frequently. Type your information accurately.  Be aware that using the scroll button will change your responses.  **If receiving invalid email error message when submitting your TAR request, select option "If not enrolled" and enter your email in field provided. Then continue with rest of TAR steps.

After your TAR request has been processed & approved:

1. You will receive an email from the TAR system with notification of approval.
   
   
2. Your information must be uploaded to TEA.
3. Once upload is complete, the Certification Office will email you signaling your ability to register/schedule requested TExES exam with Pearson.

NOTE: You will not see your tests listed on the Pearson web site until TAMUCC has uploaded your information.

ONLY upon admission to Teacher Education Program will candidates seeking initial state certification be given procedures for creating their TEA Educator account to receive a TEA ID number.

If you have an account, log into your TEAL account, and update your information using this link. If you have an account, update your information. (NOTE: do not register at the TEA site as this is where you apply for your initial certification.)

TExES Testing Candidates will receive information on creating a Pearson Testing Account upon securing their testing eligibility. Candidates must meet all testing verification requirements to receive account procedures from the Certification Office.

Before registering online, review registration and scheduling procedures in Texas Educator Certification Examination Program Getting Started Guide (pdf). You will see the test(s) you have been approved to take. If no tests are listed, you have not been approved by TAMUCC to test and your information has not been uploaded to TEA. Refer to TAR step 1 above.
