You must be diving for a scientific diving institute to keep your respective certification active. However, TAMU-CC will transfer your dive records to any institute. Those who are AAUS members may grant your status under their program.
Anyone with a certified Doctor of Medicine (MD) or a Nurse Practitioner (NP) can perform the evaluation. Preferably, they are a member of the Undersea & Hyperbaric Society, or have experience diagnosing and treating diving related illnesses and injuries. Medical professionals can be family doctors, general practitioners, or found at walk-in clinics.
The scientific diving certification is unique in that you have to be actively performing scientific dives to earn your certification. Once the Scientific Diver certification is earned, check with one of our scientific diving institutes to see if they need more divers.
