As an employer, TAMU-CC is required to train employees on all aspects of their job function. Therefore, dive training at TAMU-CC is limited to those that must complete diving as part of their job duties.
How long does it take to earn the Scientific Diver certification?
Divers can typically become a Diver-in-Training (can dive under supervision) within 1-3 months. It typically takes another 6 months to a year to earn the Scientific Diver certification. Divers can earn the Scientific Diver certification in as little as 3 months with dedicated training.
I am a Principal Investigator and I may need to dive in the future, how do I form a dive team? Please contact dive@tamucc.edu before you submit any proposals that involve diving. The Dive Safety Officer will give you the information needed to obtain personnel and resources needed to create a dive team.
