Limited Submissions

Some funding opportunities limit the number of applications they will accept from individual institutions. The Office of Research Development has established the following process for responding to limited-submission funding opportunities.

  • Notification: If you find a limited submission proposal to which you plan to apply, you must notify the Office of Research Development, including links to the full program announcement and Request for Proposals. Limited submission competitions may also be announced in Research News and on the Office of Research Development’s website.
  • Submission: If there are more applicants than the sponsor allows, the Office of Research Development will solicit internal proposals from faculty and research scientists. Internal solicitations will be posted in Research News and on the Office of Research Development website with the internal solicitation and application requirements, internal application cover page, and the full program announcement.
  • Selection: A committee established by the Vice President for Research and Innovation will review internal proposals and select which may be submitted. When necessary, ad-hoc, or external, reviews will be requested for limited submission competitions. These ad-hoc reviews are conducted on a case-by-case basis, yet it is encouraged that applicants suggest at least one external reviewer.

Information about our current limited submission competitions can be found below. The Office of Research Development is available to assist faculty and research scientists in the preparation of limited submission competitions. If you are interested in applying to an internal limited submission competition currently being run, or you would like to apply to a program that limits submissions by individual institutions, please contact the Office of Research Development at researchdevelopment@tamucc.edu.
