In honor of International Women in Science Day, TAMUCC put on the Islander STEM Showcase in the University Center. Undergraduate Researcher and LSAMP Scholar Coralynn Coapland presented her research at the Islander STEM Showcase. She is researching the evolutionary history of the Rota Blue Damselfly (Ischnura luta), a species of damselfly endemic to the island of Rota, CNMI. Through her research, she has confirmed that the Rota Blue Damselfly is a unique species. Her next goal is to determine where the Rota Blue Damselfly originated.

Coralynn Coapland won the "People's Choice" award at the Islander STEM Showcase, having the most votes for best poster.
