Application deadlines will vary based on the program. Please check with the Study Abroad Office for specific program deadlines.
General application deadlines at TAMU-CC are as follows:
- Fall/Academic Year Programs: March 1st
- Spring/Summer Programs: October 1st
Please see the specific program information for deadlines.
Only credit bearing programs that are approved/sponsored by the university are eligible for financial aid. Faculty-Led programs fall under this category; however, financial aid eligibility does vary from student to student. Please work with the Office of Student Financial Assistance to find out what your financial aid eligibility will be, as well as when financial aid will be disbursed. Financial Aid can re-assess your financial information to see if you are eligible for additional aid. Be sure that your financial aid information is up-to-date with the Office of Student Financial Assistance and that you have already submitted, or will be submitting, your FAFSA application and other required documents for them to help determine your financial aid eligibility.
For more information on Financial Aid, visit: https://osfa.tamucc.edu
PLEASE NOTE: Students do have to be enrolled for full-time course load for the study abroad term in order to be eligible for full financial aid. Financial Aid is also disbursed according to TAMU-CC's disbursement cycle for each term. Students may not have access to financial aid funding in time to make the necessary program fee payments. Check with the Bursar's Office for actual disbursement dates.
All students will be required to pay for their program fees the semester before their study abroad program. A $200 confirmation deposit is required shortly after the application deadline and admissions decisions have been determined.
Program Fees will be broken down into 2-4 smaller installment payments and will be collected in scheduled timeline in the months prior to the program start date. Students participating in summer faculty-led programs should have their program fees paid in full at least a month before their summer program start date.
Tuition is considered a separate fee, in addition to the regular program fees that are assessed. Tuition will be billed according to the program start date. (i.e. Summer I or Summer II) and will be due according to TAMU-CC's tuition payment due dates.
For Faculty-Led Programs, the program costs will vary depending on multiple factors, such as the duration of the trip, airfare, room & board, included excursions, and the number of student participants.
All students participating in a Faculty-Led program will be required to enroll in the TAMU System's international insurance coverage program provided by CISI. Overall cost for insurance will vary based on the students intended program dates. The Study Abroad Office will notify students of the cost as well as how to submit payment, closer to the students intended departure dates. This will be included as part of your program costs.
Tuition is not included as part of the program fees, so it's important to consider total costs of your tuition, the program costs, and other out-of-pocket expenses.
Students can either delay graduation in order to participate in the faculty-led program, OR, they can apply to TAMU-CC as a transient student to participate in a faculty-led program. This will depend largely on each student's situation.
PLEASE NOTE: Financial aid eligibility, program completion, graduation requirements, etc., will vary based on a case-by-case basis.
Most faculty-led programs are open to non-TAMU-CC students; however, there may be some programs which have specific enrollment targets (i.e. enrollment number limits, specific academic content, specific pre-requisites needed, etc.) which may limit participation to TAMU-CC students only. The acceptance/consideration rate will vary between programs, but faculty-leaders have the option to open/close programs to non-TAMU-CC students.
Non-TAMU-CC students will need to complete the transient student application process with TAMU-CC/Apply Texas, as well as the standard Study Abroad Application procedures to be considered for the program.
