Our Preparedness Plan

Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi operates under an Emergency Management Plan. Appendix 4 of the Emergency Management Plan is the Hurricane/Tropical Storm Defense Plan. The Hurricane/Tropical Storm Defense Plan is designed to safeguard students, faculty and staff and to protect campus facilities in the event of a hurricane or tropical storm. The plan covers responsibilities and courses of action for students, faculty and staff throughout the hurricane season. The University utilizes an Incident Command System, where administrators and others throughout the campus continually monitor tropical disturbances, tropical depressions, tropical storms, and hurricanes to determine if there is the likelihood of an impact to the University. In an emergency, these individuals, through this structure, will engage all necessary procedures to support the University’s people and facilities.

Quick Reference Guide to TAMU-CC Emergencies

Business units are required to test some part of their Business Continuity Plan once a year, with all parts tested every seven years.  In addition, departments are required to review their Business Continuity Plan and tests at least annually or more frequently as needed and update the plans whenever changes occur in their operating procedures, processes, or key personnel.

To complete the review process:

1. Log into New Islander Ready
2. Go to the front page of your plan
3. Click the edit button and go to “Plans Details on the left side
4. Click “Update Plan Status”. 
5. Edit Page on right hand side of page
6. In Manage Plan Status, click Update Plan Status at the top right side
7. Change status from Due for Review to Current.
8. Final step – confirm Plan Users are correct and updated.

Weather monitoring services are valuable tools for tracking storms and helping prepare for a possible emergency situation. The following links may provide you with useful information:

1. Open a web browser and navigate to My IslandID
2. Log in using your IslandID and password (Note: Please update recovery and emergency contact information if prompted.)   

    3.  Select the Requeststab, then the Request Access tab

   4.  Check the "Include Self" box to request access for your own account

5.  Using the drop-down menus, select Entitlements> Access Groups > Weather Alerts   Mailing List 

  6.  Check all groups you would like to receive weather alerts for, then click Done.

 7.  Set access period to "Permanent" and enter a brief note (i.e. “Subscribe”) for your request,   then select Submit Request

  8.  Your request will be routed to the proper resource for approval, and you will receive an email     once subscribed.
